This is a translation of Farfahinne’s post: مشروع قانون حماية المرأة من العنف الأسري بعد التسريبات: تشويه ما بعده تشويه Violence against women happens in two complimentary spheres. In the first, a number of cultural, political, and economic values and laws create an environment of violence in the public sphere. And in the second, violence

It’s about time Lebanese mainstream media leveraged their power to promote social change in Lebanon. LBC’s Cheyef 7alak is a new initiative that is actively utilizing social media to encourage (well, by first embarrassing) respect among citizens in Lebanon. One of their categories is about traffic. We’ve all been there. Their video and photo galleries

You can read the full post in Arabic about the Lebanese Parliament vote to cancel Article 562 of the Penal Code that offers reduced sentences for “honor” crimes. The Committee for Administration and Justice, headed by MP Robert Ghanem, had raised the recommendation to cancel Article 562 back on May 16, 2011. The matter was

ALEF (Act for Human Rights) have put up new billboards in Lebanon Azebak Mesh Raha calling for the elimination of torture in detention centers. Jails, prisons, and other detention centers in Lebanon are notorious for their ill-treatment of detainees. Men and women – especially marginalized communities such as migrant workers, drug users, sex workers, LGBTs

Here’s another new resource I came across following my discovery of the Legal Agenda last month. The Lebanese Center for Policy Studies has launched a newsletter which will serve as a regular mean of communicating LCPS policy research activities and outputs. In each issue, we will provide our readers with a brief synopsis about our

Good to Know Romania, Republic of Moldova and Aland Islands (whatever Aland Islands are… never heard of them) are in the top 10 ! Hurray ! Anyway I can tell you that his is correct as I live in Romania and The advertised speed is 26 and 28 Mbps on both biggest ISPs in the country. The real speed is more like 22 Mbps in the first case (so it’s a 4Mbps difference between advertised and real) but I guess this depends on the location, the quality of the building’s wiring infrastructure and the load of the network. So SpeedTest is actually quite right but let me ask you, what kind of connection is there in Lebanon with such a low bandwidth ? Are you still running Dial-up Modems ? Those are like banned in Romania.

Hehe! Nadine we’ve got ourselves a nice little zionist racist troll. He probably doesn’t want to hear that oppression and hand outs from the US and EU are the only reasons israel has an economy.
.
It’s nice to see that zionists don’t miss a chance to express their racism. Lebanon is one fucked up place, but as you say Nadine at least it’s not israel

Maybe it’s true that the arab brothers haven’t stood together til now ~ but where would israel be without the $billions in aid and arms it receives from the u.s. every year?
Which country besides israel does the u.s.protect when it breaks international laws?
What about the 1948 resolution 194 that allowed Palestinians the ‘right of return’ or compensation? What has israel paid for land taken from the Palestinians in these last 60+ years?
israel has always had the upper hand.
